Jens is a Registered Architect and a member of the Chamber of Architects of Berlin, a member of BDA, Bund Deutscher Architekten (Association of German Architects), and a founding partner of Casper Mueller Kneer based in London and Berlin. His widely acclaimed work includes the seat of the publisher DISTANZ in Berlin, the bunker conversion BOROS COLLECTION / SAMMLUNG BOROS, and WHITE CUBES´s largest venue in Bermondsey Street, London.
Jens has strong and extensive teaching experiences. He was a tutor at RWTH Aachen 1992-94, taught at TU Berlin 2004-06 and in 2010, was a Unit Master within the AA Berlin Laboratory of the Architectural Association in 2009. He held a Professorship for Contextual Design (Entwerfen und Bauen im Bestand) at Brandenburg University of Technology BTU Cottbus 2010-12.
In 2013 and 2014 he directed BTU´s ceased international postgraduate architectural design programme Architektur.Studium.Generale for almost two years, and in 2016 and 2017 he lectured with cultural scientist Luise Rellensmann on the correlation of progressive heritage conservation and architectural design in an experimental and transdisiplinary format at the Chair of Architectural Conservation at BTU.
Jens studied architecture at prestigious RWTH Aachen, and was employed in Berlin, Cologne and Aachen before co-founding his first own practice Realarchitektur in Berlin in 2003, which ranked amongst the '101 of the world´s most exciting new architects' in the Wallpaper* Directory in 2007.
Only two years after leaving Realarchitektur in 2008, Jens joined forces with Marianne Mueller and Olaf Kneer to establish Casper Mueller Kneer in 2010. Their practice puts focus on the production of spaces for the arts, culture and fashion, and their respective protagonists.
